Jackson Cemetery (Weaver Cemetery, Old Reeves Cemetery)

The Jackson Cemetery has been surveyed and recorded at least six times since 1941.  Yet aside from the inscriptions on the grave markers and a few hand-drawn maps, very little historical information could be found on the actual cemetery.
Here is what is known:
According to the following resources (provided in Appendix A), the cemetery had four names over time: Old Reeves, Weaver, New Hope-Jackson, and Jackson.

Nancy Jones Cordell wrote: “There are at least 27 unmarked graves in the Old Reeves Cemetery. Nine of these unmarked graved were identified through Mrs. T. D. Wilson by persons living in the community. It is believed there are approximately 17 to 20 slaves buried in unmarked graves in this cemetery.”

The cemetery property is owned by the trustees of New Hope United Methodist Church.
