Randy Seckman and Associates, managing partner for six owners
Randy Seckman and Associates, (managing partner for six owners) is listed as the property owner on the National Register of Historic Places – Inventory Nomination Form, dated Feb. 28, 1984. The historical narrative in the National Register application says the house is significant in local history as the home of John Fluker Beavers (1800-1866). Researchers at the time thought that to be correct, but recent research can only document that Reuben C. Beavers (1813-1898) owned the Beavers house, and when he died he willed it to his nephew, John F. Beavers (1835-1913), not his brother, John F. Beavers (1800-1866). Recent research also suggests the Beavers house was likely built after 1835, when Francis Irwin gave 80 acres of land for the town of Campbellton, after which the land was plotted and lots sold. If this research is accurate, the Beavers house still has historic value as one of the first homes built – and the last one remaining – in the town of Campbellton. |
Historical Displays When the City of Chattahoochee Hills acquired the Beavers House in 2017, Laurie Searle created a series of displays to document the history of the home and its surrounding area. Return to the Main Page for the other displays. |
