Thomas Pickard of Bibb County (May 1, 1827) - Land Lottery Winner
Eight times between 1805 and 1833 Georgia held lotteries to distribute land, the largest held in the United States. The 1827 Georgia Land Lottery distributed land lots of 202 1/2 acres in the counties of Carroll: 16 districts (1-16), Coweta: 9 districts (1-9), Lee: 13 districts (1-13), Muscogee: 24 districts (1-24), and Troup: 12 districts (1-12). The Grant fee was $18. The Cackle Corner Farms land was located in (then) Coweta County, Dist. 7, Land lot 12, which was award to Thomas Pickard of Bibb County in the 1827 Land Lottery. (Source 1.)
Washington Teal of Campbell County (November 3, 1829)
It appears that the land went up for sale, possibly to pay a debt. It sold to Washington Teal of Campbell County for $5. (Source 1.)
Lacy Hattaway of Campbell County (January 7, 1834)
At this point the parcel was still its original size of 202 ½ acres.
The next entry shows Ephraim Strickland selling to Augustus Fears 575 acres lying in LL10, 11, 12. . . on 5/13/1853.
It appears that there may be a missing entry showing Lacy Hattaway splitting his 202 ½ acres and selling a portion to Augustus Fears. Possible this is in another Deed book. (Source 1.)
Eliza Ann (Cook) Hataway of Campbell County (August 28, 1868)
Lacy Hataway died March 8, 1868, leaving surviving the following heirs: Mrs. Elizabeth Hataway, widow, and the following children, Eliza Ann Hataway, Emanuel Hataway, Mary Teal, M. L. Hataway (the record of this heir's initials are not legible) and Eliza Moss (last name may be Mass or Mapp, record of this name is illegible.).
On June 2, 1868 the foregoing heirs agreed to partition all of the above land lot and other lands of the Lacy Hataway Estate as shown by agreement recorded in Campbell County Deed Book G, page 176. This agreement set out that Miss Eliza Ann Hatawy was to have 75 acres of Lot 12, 50 acres Southwest corner and 25 acres Southeast corner. (Source 2.)
